I was wondering if anybody knew of an external video card that could be used with a laptop? I have been told I cant update the video card in my laptop as it comes with the motherboard.
Perhaps it isnt possible?

Hey Graeme -

So far as I know this isn't a possibility, not with HP machines. Being an HP owner if you find out otherwise please do pass it on. It only takes about two months for a high performance machine to become outdated it seems........

This is the only laptop I've seen which has the ability to change out/upgrade the video cards. I've only been looking at 17" models although.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for that info about the Gateway computer. It seems good with its graphic card slot however the article suggested there may be not many graphic cards capable of being fitted.
Not many replies so far to the posting so I guess it may not be possible to upgrade our HP's.
There appears to be a market for this type of add-on/peripheral to laptops. I like working on a laptop for ease of taking to clients, plugging things in, desk real estate, etc. I think however they should be more flexible with the ability to upgrade. It may be back to a PC for the next machine. Some of the graphics cards are getting sophisticated with their own memory and quick application.
