I have been away for a while and it is good to be back. I have 4 computers networked. Three of the computers are running on XP Pro and one cute little CUBE computer is running XP Media Center 2004 and driving a Projector (and a 106" screen).
Everything was working fine. I use the projector to host a local AC user clinic on my projector and wouldn't you know it, I elected to upgrade AC to build 2284 and the WIBU key (to 4.1) a few days before meeting. Everything still worked fine but then my CUBE got a message that there was an upgrade for the OS. I downloaded and installed it and now my CUBE cannot open AC. Both WIBU and AC are stumped right now.
The XP Media Center computer does not detect a local key but the control panel does detect the keys on the network. I have three keys for AC 8.1 on the other computers and the CUBE is supposed to grab the unused key when I use the projector for the meeting. Now I only get a Windows error asking if I want to report it to MS. All keys are no longer detected and each computer has to be re-booted for the WIBU server to detect them.
I uninstalled both AC and WIBU (and even went into the registry to clean out all of WIBU) and reinstalled back to 8.1CD and WIBU 3.31 and upgraded but cannot get the Cube to detect a key by AC.
Sorry for the long story but I did try a lot. I guess I have 2 questions:
1.) has anyone been using AC 8.1 with XP Media Center 2004 (latest upgrades on all?)
2.) Is there an easy (i.e. safe) way to roll back the OS version? The add/remove program list shows so many hot fixes that I am not sure which is safe to remove and they aren't dated as far as I can tell.
