archicad 9 on windows 7

My office runs both macs and pcs and I've been using mac for 4 years now running archicad 9 and plotmaker without any issues. I also have a virtual windows xp machine inside the mac that can also run 9. I recently bought a windows 7 pc for use at home and can load 9, but it won't recognize the wibukey. Tried downloading the drivers recommended in some other discussions but no luck. So I turned to windows 7's XP Mode as a last resort and loaded everything, including wibu without any issues until launching the program. Instead of getting a "driver not found" error, it returns "archicad can't run on terminal server client". But I know it can, I use a virtual pc on a mac everyday so how do I get it to work? I know the easy answer is to upgrade archicad, but the extra few thousand bucks isn't in the budget. Has anyone been able to load it?

I am having the same issues with 8.1 in XP mode on Windows 7. Has anyone solved this?

Having exactly the Same problem.
I couldn't open a ver 8 file in 12, I wanted to save an itermediate version in virtual XP on AC9 but got the same problem. If I select detach Wibu key USB, virtual XP crashes and restarts...

Well, after reading the forum and playing 4 hours, I got the solution. I did the following:
I uninstalled wibukey 5.2 program on Win7
Downloaded newest version (6.0f) from wibu.com and installed it.
I did the same steps in virtual XP (it is the same 64/32 bit install file).
(I made wibu key server stop on Win7 but not needed.)
In virtual XP mode:
- I choose connect WIBU-BOX/U of the USB connection menu.
- Went to: Start menu/Control panel/WibuKey -> Network tab -> WkLAN server search list: add: 127.0.0.1 OK
- I Opened Network server program in Start menu/Programs/WibuKey
- Right clicked on the icon in system tray and selected: Start server.
- The icon disappears but after some seconds it reappears and the service starts.
- Run your old ArchiCAD and ENJOY! 🙂

Note: Please keep the correct order of the steps above, otherwise virtual XP crashes!
Sorry for not exact menu command translations, I have the HUN language version...

Restrictions: There is no way to use one licence at the same time on Win7 and virtual XP, neither with the wibukey USB detach/connect command nor exiting server first.
Using Rescan wibuboxes command of the local menu on system tray makes virtual XP crash. It is hard to force virtual XP to restart or close after crashing. You have to change the default setting of Tools menu/Settings/Close -> Close or Shut down instead of Hybernate.

This solution is just for the possibility of saving an old file in an intermediate version to be able to open it with the newest one.

Notes: At later time, it is suggested to use first the USB menu Connect WIBU-BOX/U command, THEN start network key server program however this is not easy since the server program automatically starts at startup. To avoid this, edit startup service's list using the msconfig command in Run menu. Uncheck wibukey. You also have to change the starting methode of the service at Start/Settings/Conctrol panel/Administrative tools/Services: WIBU-KEY server to 'Manual'. This will cause to start WibuKey server service only after starting it manually from Start menu.

I have done what you said below, but only with the win7 OS. Archicad opens and works great for about 15 min or so then it locks up. So I don't know if I did it correctly. Didn't try it in XP mode yet. Going to try again. Let you know what happens. Thanks,

There was a period about 2 years ago when I had to use AC9 under Win7 and it was constantly hanging.
Strangely, going to Mictosoft Word, typing some stuff, selecting it and copying it to the Clipboard, then pasting it right back into Word freed ArchiCAD from its hung status.
So I figured it has something to do with the Clipboard.

Yes, I remember at the same bug on XP, AC9. I always kept a Windows explorer open in the background, it was sometimes enough to click in the address bar, than ArchiCAD ran again... Copy+Paste at the same place was also a solution.
I don't remember what did make the bug disappear but.
Ethan: try to increase the reserved memory for Windows Virtual PC (when it is closed - not hybernated!).
