toolbox help needed

Hi, i'm a student and I'm not sure if the problem i'm encountering is due to a problem with the program or my lack of understanding, either way if someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

The small toolbox which appears whilst you are drawing an element is not appearing as it should. It only appears whilst i'm holding down the mouse button and disappears immediately when i let go. i have been working around it the last couple of days by dragging the mouse over to it before i release the button, however part of my problem is that it doesn't always appear.

i have added a picture of the toolbox i am talking about as i am not sure of its proper name. (the one with the line tools, not the tooltip).

This may be a graphics card driver problem.
Try to upgrade to the latest version of the driver or if that doesn't work, downgrade to an earlier version of the driver where it worked.
