3dstudio to Archicad

Hi guys,

Today I made a custom object (more specific a garage) and I used the "3DStudio In" add-on to import it into archicad. However the imported object didn't have any reference points or anchor points (The black dots on the edges that you click on to adjust the dimensions). Thus it is really hard for me to align walls and slabs to the garage. So my question is how am I able to add these reference points so that I am able to easily align the walls and slabs?

I've attached the ads file if you guys want to check it out.

Thanks guys if you can help.

No file attached.
You will need to ZIP the file and attach it as only certain file types are allowed.

Hey Barry,

I'm not sure how to put it in a zip but do you have a link to a tutorial on how to completely setup an object? I also discovered that I cannot change the material of my GDL object. I don't think I setup it up at all.

The only reasonable way to make an imported object snap-able is to convert it to a Morph. You can change the appearance of any surface at that point as well.

After import and conversion, see this for clean-up:
http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/tips/removing-triangulation-from-imported-sketchup-cinema-4d-and-3d...

See this to change the surface appearance:
de/virtual-building/construction-elements/morphs/useful-commands-for-transforming-morphs/custom-face-settings/

etc.

If you need an object - to be placed multiple times or in other projects - vs a Morph group... then just save the morph(s) as an object after you finished fine-tuning.
