AC15_Clay Tile Roofs

Hi, I'm wondering:
How does one show in 3D, a typical barrel shaped 2 piece clay tile, on a pitched roof in AC15?

Has the roof surfacer add-on have a Roman style tile, as the closest thing available? Is it possible get the under tile to be barrel, and not flat?

We have spanish roof tiled models, and have been using a good gdl object that is not compatible with AC15, either as a stand alone object, or a 3rd party object loaded to the surfacer add-on.

Any thoughts or recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Is the Italian Tile what you are looking for? See attached accessory parameters. It does look like the upwards facing tile is flat in the image - but I did not dig through the parameters to see if it can be another barrel.

There are a couple of tile Accessory objects on Olivier Dentan's site which may be useful to you (I'm not entirely sure what you are after!) -

http://archilib.od.pagesperso-orange.fr/

Both have PDF instructions, but they are in French. I wonder if Olivier could translate them into English for us? Google does a poor job on technical documents!

It would also be quite useful if anyone knew of a 'double roman' style of roof tile accessory like the attached image, as this is the type that is more commonly used in the UK.

Karl: yes, that's the tile surfacer, we don't use the Roman Style in California since the 2-piece 'Mission' or Spanish tile is preferred around here.

Andro, thanks for the link, these look pretty good, however they only work as objects in AC15 and not as an integral surface to the new linked roof modes. Also I could not figure out how to make a hip roof, the triangular objects all have a 90 degree angles...are we supposed to mirror them? These are somewhat labor intensive roof parts but I like how they look, they are v11 parts and I need assurances they will still be supported by AC in years to come.

Peter, these are also good, and I've used them in the past, however these are the ones that don't translate into AC15. Actually they load and open but later give error messages when trying to use the parametric functions.
Sorry, haven't seen tiles like the ones you need.

Thank you guys, still looking. I've been wishing that GS add the style I need forever and it is also common in other parts of the US, Europe and the rest of the Americas. We've had the same old surface options since the surfacer was released eons ago..some things don't seem get enough attention, this seems pretty basic to me.

Eduardo,
Sorry, that spanish tiles are problematic. Here is another one from an Italian architect Bruno Somaschini.....it is a Roof Accessories which will add:
1. Roof Tiles....Tegole (12 different types)
2. Roof Rafters....Travetti (with ON/OFF switch)
to your roof.
The GUI is in Italian.

Andro, thanks again for your continued support! Too bad these tiles also become buggy when used in AC15, I can get them to load into the surfacer but the object dialog box acts funny and eventually AC15 freezes.

I was told Cigraph had some roof tiles that might work, but could not confirm this by looking at the product marketing, and it seems like these now have to be purchased as part of a suite of add-on tools that costs 750 euros and need a paid yearly upgrade..this is out of the question for me.

Any news on this? I have used it in the past on older versions of ArchiCAD, but can't find anything that works on 15. Last used it in 14, but as others have said it was full of bugs.

Didn't find the answer?
