Alpha channel

Hi!
I want to use an image from AutoCAD Textures in ArchiCAD as a bitmap. How do i convert it into one? Do i need to convert it into alpha channel image? Can i do that through Photoshop?

What is the file type, now? Photoshop can deal with almost anything.
