Curtain wall distinct panel not updating

I have combined and created a distinct panel in a simple curtain wall. The panel type is CW Door 2 18. When placed the frame shows clear and when editing the surfaces the changes are not applied. Been fiddling with this a bit but cannot resolve.

Highlight the doors, click the drop down for the surface panel overrides, tick the box, then open the curtain wall panel selection settings, go to surfaces and choose.
