I am having a little troble I am trying to make a cut but not all the way thru the object... I need to have 3" on each side

Do you mean a void completely inside the body?

I think CUTPOLYA won't do it, it makes a half-infinite tube; it has only one end, the other keeps going. (Infinite both ways when d=0)

Solid Geometry Commands are the way to go. Page 109. Briefly, you need a GROUP of the target element, a GROUP of the subtracting body, then SUBGROUP(target, subtractor*).

*Maybe the other way around.
