Door Floor Plan Display

I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the gray shaded area after I place a door. See attached image. I've played around with the floor plan door settings, but I can't seem to find the right setting to turn this off. Also what is the purpose of this shaded area?

Make sure the selected item is set to Transparent or whatever color you desire.

Also that gray area might not print since AC has a setting which changes the display of items that match the background so that you can find them.
