Door openings cut through slab

Anonymous
Not applicable
Greetings, not sure if others have had this problem, but door openings in walls cut through floor slabs, stairs and other things. Image is posted. Of course this is extremely frustrating when showing a client. They think the software is a cheap, off the rack version.

I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I have tried elevating the door to level with the top floor slab, but that doesn't seem to work.

Need help.

Thanks,

Do you have a separate slab for finishes? If so show this slab going into openings too.

You need to make sure the wall containing the opening properly intersects with the slab, not just sitting on top of it e.g. set the base of the wall at the depth of the finishes or lower.

If your top layer is a 'finish' layer set in composite, it will fill in the gaps of wall openings, as long as they are touching the slab (as written above).

Thank you for your answers. I did not include this thin floor slab with the foundation slab as a composite because I have several floor topping materials for different rooms. I did set the walls on top of the top composite of the slab layer so maybe I need to set the walls below the top composite material on the slab. I'll check it out.

However, let's say you have a stair crossing underneath an arched opening. The door still cuts right through the stair leaving a gap as wide as the wall thickness. Must be something inherent in the door tool that it cuts every thing in its path. And thanks DG, I'll check out that link.

This sounds like a building material intersection priority issue. I would look there. Particularly if you are using a topping slab for your finishes.

You can make a single layer composite and set it as finish. The finish setting is what does the trick.

Thanks, thought it might be a priority issue. I'll also explore the singe layer set as finish trick.

Thank you'all as sometimes these issues are hard to figure out.
