How to 'return' the plasterboard on the edges of empty opening

I have a composite wall element (gypsum plasterboard, air, gypsum plasterboard) for a typical internal partition. I need to create an empty opening (easy) and make the edges of the opened wall appear in plan view with the plasterboard thickness, then the timber frame after that (so, inserted by 12.5mm either side of the opening).

I can't find a way, other than to model separate 12.5mm-thick walls to the height of the opening and manually adding.

Is there a trick you guys are aware of?

Hi there,

If you use a rectangular door opening as opposed to the Simple Door Opening then the skins can be returned:

Hope it helps!

Cheers,
