Double Door with 2 Sidelights 16 - AmendingTransom Thickness

William Gray

I've placed a Double Door with 2 Sidelights 16 and want to change the thickness of the transom to the side lights.

I've put a horizontal division height of 900mm to the top hung sidelights (which are have a sash type - Divided). The transom shown is very deep (it shows as 150mm) and I want to reduce its depth to around 50mm. There are editable hotspots but these only serve to move the horizontal division up or down. There don't seem to be any settings within the window/door parameters or settings adjustments to amend the transom thickness (there are only settings for adjusting the width of the grilles if the glazing is subdivided).

Is there a way of adjusting the transom depth?

A door like that is not in the US Library, others will have to post whether it exists in other countries' libraries. If just the 2D symbol is needed (not the 3D Model), and it will be placed multiple times, then you might want to create a Patch, in the Help files see: Virtual Building > Parametric Objects > Create Patch Object. If you also need a 3D Door, then you can create it yourself from ArchiCAD's elements, in the Help files see: Virtual Building > Parametric Objects > Graphic Creation of Custom Library Parts and Components > Saving Custom-Shape Doors or Windows.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Me again

Is there a way to have panic bar on both leafs of a double door? I tried but it only gets on one of them. I want both to be opened by pushing the panic bar.

And still regarding the panic bar, can it be seen on the floor plan? i atach an image in which the disabled have this door and it can be seen.

Thank you

Thanks for adding the signature.

Whether you can change the hardware configuration or plan display depends on the specific door you are using: these could be options if they were scripted into the library part. For example, in the US Library there is D2 Commercial Door 17 where under the Door Panel parameters you can pick the type and location of hardware for each panel, but there is no option for showing the panel hardware on plan (2D Symbol). If you post the name of the door you are using (it can be selected and copied from the library part's Settings > Previewing and Positioning panel), someone familiar with the part may be able to help.

An image speaks more than many words.

That is the door that i was talking about. On the right there is the 2d view of that door without the panic bar. I managed to set it to projected and then i saw the panic bar in 2d view, but the door is now closed.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Definitely a buggy (or incomplete) door object in the INT library. I downloaded the door you show and see the issue.

The US library's D2 Metal 17 works the way you want - can select right or left inside or outside for placement of whatever handle you want. But, it doesn't seem to be available for download. If I enter D2 Metal 17 in the Door Settings search box, I get your door and lots of other ones as available for download, but not the US 17 doors. I think this could be because the US door library requires so many US macros. Posting just the object for you wouldn't help, as it requires so many other things inside the US library. Not sure what to suggest...short of faking it by modeling the other panic bar as a separate object (moprh).

PS As David said, the US part will not show the projected handles in plan in symbolic view (door open according to 2D angle setting) - only in projected view (door open according to 3D angle setting).

Thanks guys for bringing up this topic. It is indeed not possible to assign panic bar to both panels with the INT library. This has been reported to our library team. Also for both panels independent settings would be the best.

I have been using many different doors and have always found the "TYPE" Field under parameters listed how ever for the door D1 Sliding Folding Multipanel and D2 Sliding Folding Multipanel, do not have the field.
I use this field for my scheduling and I was wondering if there is something I am missing from those two doors? Any help would or advice would be very helpful. Thanks

The reason is that the "Type" parameter is not one of the standard parameters for that door subtype (shown in blue), but was added (shown in black). You can add it to the other doors by opening the library part, going to the main library part window, setting it to Parameters (as per the attached screen shot), adding the new parameter, then saving the library part, either under the original name, or as a new part. This involves a bit of GDL knowledge and Library management (if saved as its original name in the original ArchiCAD Library, then it will get replaced if the library is updated).
