Double curvature, ideally solid

I need to model these funky precast panels and use them in ArchiCAD. I am told they are not hard to model in Sketchup, but that they will get all messed up when bringing them into ArchiCAD.

So would the C4D add-on be the only way?

Sometimes the good old AutoCAd is best! Yes, we have to admit it!
It took about 30 minutes to model this including the preliminary plan and side drawings!
It is such tasks that make me still keep AutoCAD on my computer!

Finally back in AC!

I really hate the way AC imports 3D geometry from other applications! It took me 1,5 hours to just transform it the way it looks now!

Of course, smoothness is gone!

Few polygons, and fast 3D.

That looks great. How did you get the mesh to have hard edges on the arch and soft edges on the curved sloping part?

Open the part and look at the code, there are some comments.

Contour
x, y, z, 15 : hard edge
x, y, z, 15+64 : soft edge

Mesh
x, y, z, 0 : hard edge
x, y, z, -1 : soft edge

Mask = 1+4+16+128

In the fragment 1 of 2D window, i put a sketch for construction method.
Tell me if something is not clear.

Some remarks to complete.

Lower part needs to be symetrical. I just noticed this when i first started to build a half part.
Rounded top hole : last junction points (profile 14) must be perpendicular to the vertical side,
to get a smooth junction. Coplanar faces must be parallel (symetrical axis).

In any case, you have to define your profiles. Don't trust any software for doing this automatically.
You would loose any control.

You can add as many additional points as you want in the buffer, if you need more precision.
For eg, a reasonable polycount for fast 3D, and more points for section or details.
if GLOB_CONTEXT = 4 or GLOB_CONTEXT = 7 then
put x1, y1, z1, -1,
xn, yn, zn, -1
endif

For sure it is better to use a true wall for insulation and window.
Delete the unnecessary code. Just preserve fragments 2 and 3.
The object will be "light" and fast.
