GDL Parameter List

Does anyone know of a quick method for printing out the GDL parameters for a symbol? The parameter window in the symbol doesn't seem to support printing and it would be a real asset when scripting GDL to have a print-out handy.

Thanks Laszlo,

I think I will add it to the wish list.

One final question about your SQL workaround - I've tried inserting O.PARAMETERS.VARIABLE in order to have the variables print out in the list but it won't work? Am I doing something wrong or is it simply not workable?

Cheers, Cameron

Wow is this ever complicated.
As stated, all I want to do is print out the parameters page (variables, name, type, values) for reference when scripting GDL. And I'd probably want to print it out repeatedly as the GDL script progresses.
Encina may have the solution for you - we have made an add-on freely available on our website for saving a list of GDL parameters, either for selected objects or the entire loaded library.

The add-on is simply called 'Parameter List', and a description is available at http://www.encina.co.uk/parameterlist.html

The download is free (no registration either), and can be found at http://www.encina.co.uk/freestuff.html

Parameter List is available for Mac and Windows, from AC7 to AC8.1. A manual is included with the download. This is a first release, so I would appreciate feedback on your use of the add-on (good or bad). Enjoy

Well done, Ralph!

I loaded your AddOn and it worked flawlessly - the resulting .txt file was dropped into Excel for formatting.

I particularly like the way you can highlight the target on plan graphically without drilling through reams of folders.

Many thanks.

Cameron,
I see you now have the solution, which is good.
The answer to your question to me is found in the ODBC driver Help file. The attached picture shows the values that can be obtained for Objects.
As you can see the one you need is not included so it is not possible at this time.

GS, may we please have a non-Mac-hostile version of this documentation?

I understand that the ODBC driver is windows-only, but the SQL is not. It's a feature of AC itself, and the documentation should be much easier (and for Mac users, possible) to access.
There are several Mac OSX programs that can view .chm files like the QEODBC.chm documentation file. Chmox is the one I use. You can download the latest version here. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23594
