We're using the Grid Tool and are having a few problems...
(we're using AC11 and the file is teamworked)
1) When we return to our elevation views we're getting multiple dimension strings....5 or 6 in the same place. If we delete them, they'll show up again later on.
2) They're not showing up in our sections
We did follow the directions that came with the grid tool, along with the archiwiki about it...
SO, I need help with these things:
1) how do we fully delete the grid tool to re-insert a new one
2) what settings do we affect to make sure NO dimensions insert with the grid tool
3) what is the best method for editing an existing grid?
Any help would be appreciated!
AND, if the grid tool is not such a great idea....whats a good way to handle matching grids between the floor plan, sections, elevations...??
THANKS!!!

I lost all the dimensions in the sections and elevations today. By updating the drawings in the layouts. And the submission is tomorrow.
It went without the dimensions in S/E. Embarassing.
Yes, 1114.

Alice wrote:Don't delete your grid, but you'll probably want to check your parameters after the update.
do i need to delete the old grid and start from scratch, or should the udpate just "fix it"?
Alice wrote:Grid Dimension settings are located in the Marker dialog. Make the desired S/E Tool active and Ctrl+A to select all Markers of that type in plan. Make sure dimension parameters are off under the Grid Tool panel.

I've checked the settings in their WE according to the archiwiki...
weird problem #1:
we've been having issues with our work environments "sticking," and to the point that an AC consultant has been in our office and had the same puzzled look that we have after adjusting WE, closing AC, opening it back up only to find that the affect WE has not changed at all. my concren is that the changes we make in the WE that are related to the grid tool may be affecting how its working
weird problem #2:
when we try to edit the grid, we get an error (see attached image)
we really need a solution for our grid system.
if the grid tool does not work (and/or if the method by which correcting this is above our heads) we STILL need a solution for showing the grid.
can someone suggest an alternative "best practice" for setting up the grid in elevation/section/plan with out using the grid tool??
this is getting frustrating! and i know it's because of lack of knowledge, but jeez!!! help!
thanks again for your help!!

weird problem #1:Alice, are you still having this problem? My office is, too, but it's primarily concerned with palettes. Nobody here has found a solution yet, though.

The next time it happens, save a separate copy of the teamworked file somewhere on your server. GS in Budapest would probably be very interested to have a look at it.
Please let me know

And regarding the dimensions, since your file is teamworked, it makes me wonder if your dimension problem is related to this archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=16202&highlight=archicad+placed+dimensions
My company, and apparently a few others, had an especially calamitous problem with dimensions going all over the place when we changed custom text parameters in door and window schedules. GS purportedly repaired the problem in 10 and assures me that the dimension database has been re-worked to prevent such an issue from ever occurring again. Your situation makes me wonder. Please reference that thread above with your tech support submission. You'll want to talk to Gergely Kmethy in Hungary.
Again, let me know the outcome of your tech support. It would be very important for me and the office.
Thanks
