Oddly enough - you're both right!
The Hinged Gate object for some reason can be inserted both as an object (object tool) and as a door.
When inserted with the Door tool, it shows properly in 3D.
When inserted with the Object tool, it shows flat on the ground in 3D.
Given that the subtype is 'Model Element', I don't have a quick answer to why this library part shows up as available with both tools...
