Is GDL only for creating objects?

No. GDL is "Geometric Description Language". You can do some pretty cool stuff with it, but it is only for making 2D or 3D elements (or data elements, if you want to get technical)

No,
but you can make more complex plugins, but they need to be done in Visual C++ 2003
