I don't know when it started. Here's the behavior:
(I've used a PARAMETERS statement to display J_ in the settings box: "PARAMETERS J_display = J_" )
For elements on story 1, J_ returns 0.
On story -1, J_ returns -3-3 3/8" (-1m).
On story 2, 3-3 3/8" (1m).
Above story 1, I get (StoryNumber-1)*(1m).
In the default settings, J_ is shown to be 0, regardless of the true elevation. (Maybe this is normal.)
In the object editor, my J_-displaying parameter shows the proper current default of the object tool, as it should.
Has anyone observed this? Is there a workaround? I'm using it to display the bottom elevation of a steel beam (placed by the top):
bottom_elev = B_ - J_ - beam_depth
