Missing lines using a cutpoly

Anonymous

I am working on an object for our company and am using a cutpoly to cutout what I don't need. However, after the cut is done, I am missing lines as shown in the attached image. The larger image is the Right Elevation and the inset image is the plan view.

The inset image should have the curved lines reaching from full left to full right but is stopping partway.

I am simply cutting some sculpting into a 'log' wall (generated with cylinders) so I don't understand why it is not showing all lines. In 3D it looks perfect. It is fully cut and clean.

Any reasons why these lines are missing?

sirduncan,

Are you sure that you have cuted out with CUTPOLY and not CUTPOLYA?

CUTPOLYA has mask!
maski: similar to the PRISM_ statement.
maski = j1 + 2 * j2 + 4 * j3 + 64 * j7
j1: lower horizontal edge
j2: vertical edge
j3: upper horizontal edge
j4: side
j5: horizontal edge in line elimination (for PRISM_ shapes only)
j6: vertical edge in line elimination (for PRISM_ shapes only)
j7: special additional status value effective only when j2=1 and controls the viewpoint dependent visibility of the current vertical edge
j2=0: the vertical edge is always invisible
j2=1 and j7=1: the vertical edge is only visible when it is a contour observed from the current direction of view
j2=1 and j7=0: the vertical edge is always visible

Can you attach 3D SS?

I've had a similar issue with CUTPOLYA - try using a mask value of 31. That usually forces all the edges to show.

Cheers.

Thank you. That almost did it. See the attached image. All of the lines are showing now except for that bottom one. The object is at least now useable.

I played with the status codes (which I really don't understand) and found that if I used 2+4 then it shows that bottom line, but it also shows all of the lines that come from the 'segmented' poly cut (instead of being round it makes a number of small straight cuts). So that doesn't work.

I don't believe I can 'draw' a line in there in the elevations view so do you have any suggestions on this last little line?

Thanks so much - I can now use the object.

sometimes very curious.

if the status values will not help and the position is not too complicate, you can "draw" the line by line_ command in 3d skript.
