Object Updating

Bear with me on this... I am struggling to find this answer....

I've got an object that was created a while ago... I need to simply change the PEN assignment of the 2d....(to parametric from fixed)..

I open up the part from FILE ONE...
1. The part opens up as READ ONLY
2. I can make changes, but cannot save (must save as; but I don't want to)..

So I open up FILE TWO and link to same library
1. Part opens up fine and is editable
2. Make corrections and SAVE... all is well (in this file)..

So I open up FILE ONE again.
1. Refresh libraries
2. Find part on plan and change pens
3. NO CHANGE TO 2d DISPLAY?
4. So I delete object and place new one.
5. Still NO pen changes
6. Shut down file and reopen
7. Still no changes
8. Open up object from THIS file
9. Still shows as READ ONLY and does not contain the updated script.

No matter what I do in FILE ONE; I cannot get it to LOAD the current object. How can this be? Honestly, there is only ONE object GSM on my hard drive. It does NOT show as EMBEDDED... yet there are two versions.

Please help!

Nevermind...

One was the BIM SERVER version.... of the library...

Ugh... someday we'll get bidirectional updating / syncing and these issues will go away...

Now back to work...
