Problems loading and saving libraries

Reference Guide page 210 says that to add an object file to an Embedded Library you must use the Library Manager, click Add, browse to the object and click Choose, or else drag and drop.

I am not getting this. I thought all you needed to do was to place the objects in your project and when the project was saved, all GDL objects used would automatically be filed as an Embedded Library. Isn't this a duplicate effort?

Anyway, I tried following the instructions and opened an existing project, then went to library manager and found nothing under Embedded Libraries. Then I clicked on Add but I didn't know where to browse, as it didn't seem logical that I should open the standard AC libraries and pick out the objects I already used in the project.

One other thing. I downloaded the AC14 library update (that is the version I use) but don't know how to remove it from the containing folder and install it. Right now, it's just sitting on my desktop. When I open Library Manager and browse the desktop, it doesn't even recognize it.

What am I doing wrong?

This happens when the file is Saved As... an Archive type file. In the Help files see Configuration > Archive Files.

It is not clear whether you are trying to add objects not in the loaded libraries, add objects that are in the loaded libraries, or create an Archive pln. file with all the currently placed objects. An explanation of what you are trying to accomplish would help. In the Help file, see Configuration > Libraries > Embedded Library > Add Objects to Embedded Library.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
