RFA + RVT Files "could not be imported"

Trying to import either RFA or RVT files from two different sources for some commercial vent hoods. The correct processes were followed for each, so that's not the issue.

In each case, I got an error message, saying that the file "could not be imported".

"Try checking the file with the original author to solve the problem, and please be aware that only file versions 2015-2024 are supported."

Has anybody else run into this? These are files downloaded directly from the manufacturer and / or BIMObject.

The answer is in the message.

The files are probably in a format older than 2015 or possibly in 2025 format, which Archicad can not read.

You can apparently check the version of RVT files by opening them in Notepad or similar and searching for "b u i l d"

Hi! I have also encountered this issue with some supplier-sent model (on both rfa and ifc files they provided) and asked them if they could re-save the file and afterwards the issue was gone.

Prior to this, I have tried opening them from two different pc’s and it wouldn’t load.

Today I learned!

Sure enough, most of the files giving me grief are Revit Mechanical 2010 files.
