S)_Renumber

Chadi SAROUFIM
Contributor
I have a Library part called SO_Renumber, it used to work in ArchiCAD 7 but it is not working at all in ArchiCAD 8.1. Its job is to give automatically consecutive numbers on every mouse click. If you want to insert in-between a new item you would Alt-Click and update.

I am attaching the library part for info and for the the ones who don't have it.

Anyone using it in 8.1?

Archibaldo, or anyone,
Have you been able to insert a number in the sequence
and then update the values of all numbers greater than
the inserted number as Chadi implied in his post?

What I mean is, In the case of numbering steps,
lets say that you accidently skipped say the third step,
so you go back and insert another number at step 3,
and then update the sequence so that what was step #3
now becomes step #4 and what was step #4 now becomes
step #5 etc.
Is there a way of doing this?
I haven't been able to make it work.
Thanks,
Peter Devlin

my object gdl code " know " only to add 1 to precedent value. It is only a relation to precedent
click. But you can write an similar object based on archicad auto id numbering and with the "Element Id manager"(in "Calculate" menu) to renumbering again after modifications. The object 2d value must be linked to Object ID (and archicad can easy manage auto id numbering)
Ihave attached an example

Archibaldo,
Thank you for your reply.
I have just downloaded the example
and will study it.
Thanks again,

Archibaldo,
I just opened NUMERATOR 01.gsm.
Could you tell me what language is used
in the parameter list and in the Master Script
print command. I hope I can use one of those
on-line translators to translate the words.
I apologize for my ignorance.

Archibaldo,
I now know the language and
have translated most of the words.
Now I have to do what you suggest,
"write an similar object based on archicad auto id numbering and with the "Element Id manager"(in "Calculate" menu)".
Thank you,
Peter

Oleg,
In the SO_Renumber.LIB there are two files with
file extensions *.gd& and *.gs&.
What kind of file types are these ?
I did a search in Archicad Help and came up with nothing.
If the part uses DATA IO does something have be put in
what was in AC 6.5 called "Archicad data folder" ?
If so what is the name of the corresponding folder
in AC 8.1 v2 ?
Thank you,
Peter Devlin
You can delete all files excluding SO_Renumber.gsm and Master_gdl.gdl
gd& and gs& files are precompiled scripts on the Windows platform. They are created automatically by ArchiCAD.

DATA IO uses by default ArchiCAD root folder (instead of "ArchiCAD Data Folder" for TEXT IO).
You should not put any files into it. Two files will be created by the object automatically.

The note:
I do not know why Chadi writes about Alt+click. As far as I remember, for renumbering elements (after deleting for example) it is required to use Alt+Rebuld.
Besides this object was something like idea to share for GDL developers (One more same object was SO_Animation). Though it was working object, I am not sure in its practical utility.
i"ve both SO_Renumber.gsm and Master_gdl.gdl loaded but not working! what have i done wrong?

LiHigh,
Would you please describe in what way the object does not work.
What way did you expect it to work?
