Is there anything faster than to use TAB? If there are lots of object, it takes time.
Is there a menu which can show all the objects under the cursor?

Allways push the SHIFT button on your keyboard to be sure you are using the "black arrow select tool"
If you want to select a object behind you have to press the TAB button on your keyboard too as many time as you need to select your aim object (during pressing SHIFT button)
When your aim will be blue do a left clic and enjoy !
You can check if this option is ON to select more easier :

If you know what type of object you're trying to select (line, wall, text, circle, spline, etc.),
select/activate it in the toolbox palette.
It will be the prioritized type of object selected. Even if behind something
sharing the same node.
