VARDIM1 and VARDIM2 do the trick. The result returns a numerical expression.
Or may be i don't understand your question.

For example, the array has 3 rows and 5 columns.
VARDIM1 return the number of rows.
VARDIM2 return the number of columns.
VARDIM1 return the number of rows.
VARDIM2 return the number of columns.
