code for grid placement in layout sheet V12

Anonymous
Not applicable
We want to use our drawing titleblock on the layout sheet w/ text and have it automatically display the grid placement it is in. Right now we use the code <DRAWINGID> because the drawing titleblock was in a view that was placed. Now we just want to put text on the layout sheet and move the titleblock around. I hope it's a simple code change.

Thanks,
Michele

Is this for a particular project or is it typical for all your projects? If the latter, I can't help wondering why?

We have a cover sheet with text on it and I want to just put the text on the cover sheet layout instead of bringing it in as a view. I then want to put a title on each section but I want it to automatically list the grid box it's in. A6, etc...

Why is this so unusual? It seems like it would make more sense to just put text on the layout sheet instead of putting it in a detail marker then brining it in as a view. It seems to save a step or two.

THanks,
Michele

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding. It sounds like you are putting the master information on each layout via a view. Are you not using masters?

I'm not talking about the master titleblock sheets. I'm talking about the titles that are at the bottom of every plan, details, elevation. that has the title of the plan, detail, elevation, with the scale, graphic scale and will automatically fill in the grid number on the sheet it is place.

Michele

Drawing titles are library parts. You can place and move them around independently.

Yes, we have a drawing title but I need to know the code that I need instead of the <DRAWINGID> that we are using right now. We are currently bringing the drawing titleblock into the layout sheet via a view and then the code <DRAWINGID> works just fine. If I want to put the dreawing titleblock into the layout sheet by itself, What is that code? We still bring in all the rest of the details and plans via views so the other code works well most of the time. I just need the code to get the grid numbers automatically when we bring the drawing titleblock straight to the layout sheet.

Thanks,
Michele

I understand what you want now, and no I don't know what the GDL callout is for that.
I can't help wondering, still, why you want to circumvent the view placed on layout work flow which gives you the correct results.
Why don't you post a screen shot of what you are trying to accomplish.

It just seems senseless to put text into a detail window or story then place a view in the layout sheet when you could just place text in the layout sheet. I just want my drawing title to be able to know where it;s placed in the layout sheet without being in a placed view. Mking less steps makes more sense to me.

THanks,
Michele
