try ditching the Built-Up Post label in the object and label it. with a label.
Text and custom objects may be unwieldy. (my word of the day).
a built up post can be done with a column, saved as a favorite.
a 2D built up post can be made from the wood part in the detailer library saved as a favourite.

ok, it's the scale setting in the object editing window that was set to a different scale, and because the text is not affected by the window scale it was messing with me. plus, the tutorials don't remind you to reload the library after editing an object. all sorted now.
