door frame and wall thickness

Anonymous
Not applicable
i'm trying to locate a door frame in an exterior wall, i have a condition where i don't want the frame to equal the thickness of the wall, and would like to adjust the depth of the frame along with it's location relative to the exterior. the door i am using won't allow me to de-select the "frame depth = wall thickness" option. (i know, it sounds crazy, but it's what is happening).

the door i'm using is D1 Metal 11, i've also tried D1 Commercial Door 11, with the same effect.

Is there a metal door in the base library that will allow me to change it's frame this way? Or do i need to purchase an add on?

Thanks!

Hi Alice,

I just tried it myself and it does not seem possible to change the door frame width on the metal doors. On the wood doors it is possible by changing the setting the 'Wall Type' setting from 'Stud Wall' to 'Solid Wall'. It will then take the reduced width. There may be a setting I don't know about for the metal doors that I will let someone else address.

Cheers,

I just tried it on both the Metal door and Commercial door, and the "Frame Thickness = Wall Thickness" parameter is only available if the "Wall Type" is set to `Solid Wall.`
