When I try to load a folder with subfolders containing objects using the "add" in the library manager. The subfolders don't show up when I go to the object button.

Try using "link library"

Do the sub folders actually contain objects?
If they contain only doors, windows or stairs then they will only show in those tools and not the object tool.
