older custom library parts gone missing!

help help help!
I am doing the end of the year archiving of projects which have finished and have run into a *big* library problem...
these are older projects which we started in 6.5 but I am hoping someone here can still help me out.
we have a custom library which consists of mostly windows and doors modified from the 6.5 era 'real windows and doors' objects with some extra fields for our schedule.
this is located on out server.
now, we have not changed anything on this library as far as I know for some months now since we havn't worked on any of these projects in a while. But, when we recently started to have library problems with teamwork in ac8, I removed older libraries which perhaps our custom library was still referencing (the original real windows and doors library from which the objects were duplicated).
Now when I am in 6.5, the windows and doors from this custom library show up as missing library parts (even though they are there in the library folder). Not all of the windows and doors which are in the folder on the server appear in the library list as available to use, and worse, when you click on a window or door to choose it, the selection window jumps to the "archicad 6.5 wall extras" folder. this also occurs for the anderson and pella windows which come from gdl central.
Is there someone out there who can tell me how I can repair these broken doors and windows (I am not at all familiar with GDL so i may need the most basic of explanations). are they just missing a reference to some path or other or might the have been contaminated somehow by being opened in 8?

many thanks!

Hmmmm ... if you removed and moved the libraries around, you have to show 6.5 WHERE you moved them - so the prudent way is to find them manually, and reload from the new location. 8.1 is better in that sense, or should I say MUCH better.

If you loaded the library in 8.1 and converted it, then of course you cannot use it in 6.5. I do hope you still have the original files somewhere?

So, take a deep breath, make some coffee or whatever, and be patient ... it is there, only you have to find it!

I have had situations with older libraries and 8.1 as well.
What I have found is that if the library has been moved it needs to be reloaded, but this doesn't work unless you select the Local/LAN tab in the Lib Manager. The other situation has been with library parts whose names do not conform to the "new" naming standards any name that contained a"." simply didn't work.

One thing I do to streamline the libraries when archiving is to save it as a pla with the "save all parts of loaded library" off open the pla load the macros that weren't included and overwrite the pla with "save all parts of loaded libraries" on. When you open the project in the future read the library from the pla.

Note:
Some of the Andersen WIndows need some of the 6.5 openings installed for them to work properly.

Well, I seem to have fixed the problem.
looks like someone loaded the 6.5 library parts into 8 and they somehow got saved as 8 parts and thus would not open in the older version (which was what I was trying to do, sorry if I wasn't clear about that).
fortunately I found an older copy of the library lurking on one station which was untouched so managed to recover the parts. Now this library will be backed up with the projects so we dont lose it by accident again.

it was a bad day for computer usage here yesterday. got one in the shop getting its harddrive recovered. sorry for the bit of panic there.

thanks!
