schedule problem

i am having a problem with making symbold show up properly on a schedule, maybe someone can help me.

basically i am making 2d electrical symbols for my electrical plans, i made the parts, and saved as library part. then i opened then to add 3 parameters for my schedule (which i typed in manually):

User Defined 1
User Defined 2 &
Note/Remarks

for some reason i can't get my schedule to pick up the values from the library parts, and since it doesn't think that the library parts have that attribute, it won't let me add any values in the schedule. it is picking up the quanities correctly...

does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?
this is my first time working with GDL parts

I've been on vacation or would have responded sooner.

I'm guessing what the problem is that you've run into ... but can't be positive from the info that you've posted.

The I.S. has a "gotcha" in that it DISPLAYS parameters using the NAME, but it matches them to the library part parameters using the VARIABLE (invisible!).

If you added User Defined 1, etc. ... by going to the Parameters button and browsing to the object parameters for a subtype (which it looks like since they are displayed in blue), you got the GS "User Defined 1" parameter which is matched to the "gs_list_custom1" variable name in the GS subtypes. This will NOT match your own parameter that has the same text name but has the variable name "CANC_A".

If I'm on the right track with what you have done, then delete those fields in the I.S., and make sure that you are adding the parameters for YOUR particular object(s) when you click the Additional Parameters button in the I.S. (use By Folder to browse to your particular objects).

Don't feel bad about getting confused... this behavior of matching-by-invidible-variable, but displaying-by-name is something that GS needs to address in a future revision of the I.S. interface.

(Creating your own subtype for this family of 2D symbols would be the best way to go in the long term, but the above should be quick and easy since you're new to GDL.)
