Concrete column not subtracted from brick wall in Component Volume (Net) Schedule

Hi everyone,

I have a concrete column placed in the middle of a brick composite wall. The brick skin quantity in my Component Schedule (Component Volume (Net)) is exactly the same with and without the column.

  • Brick Building Material priority: 720, concrete: 900
  • Intersection Group Number is the same for the wall and column layers, and the 3D model shows the wall skins cut by the column
  • Wall vs. wall (concrete wall in brick wall) does reduce the quantity correctly
  • Solid Element Operations works, but it is too time consuming

Does Component Volume (Net) take Column/Wall intersections into account at all, or only Wall/Wall? Is there a setting I’m missing?

Thanks!

Operating system used: Windows 11

I am not sure if column volumes are deducted or not without testing.

They should be just as other elements are deducted.

You can set calculation rules to ignore small deductions in the Project Preferences.

But I don't see an option for columns, which makes me think they have been ignored altogether.
