Am I doing something wrong or a student version of Archicad 15 is crippled and it's impossible to save 3D view in Cinema 4D format? Every time when I try open the file in Cinema (v12 or v13) there are just bunch of chaotic lines.

Student version is not crippled. Install the Cinema4D Exchange plugin and then you can "Save As..." from the 3D window directly in Cinema4D format.

Add-ons for commercial ArchiCAD work in the Student version.
However, some have special licensing > CiGraph have a limited edition for EDU users, EcoDesigner is fully functional and free with watermarks etc...
