Help with 3D Document Workflow – Camera Position Issues When Adding New Elements
Hi everyone!
When I’m working with 3D documents, my usual workflow involves selecting elements with "Show Selection in 3D", saving the view as a 3D document, and then completing the work in 2D by copying the 3D document to a worksheet.
If I need to add new elements, I go back to the 3D view by clicking "open source view", make changes but it won’t appear in the 3D-document since it’s not part of the original 3D selection.
To solve this I need to "Show All in 3D" to update the selection with my new elements but my camera position changes when I show all.
This causes issues, as my 2D touch-ups were based on the original camera angle, and it’s usually very difficult to get back to that exact view.
My question is:
Is there a way to use "Show All in 3D" without changing the camera position and angle? Or does anyone have a more efficient workflow for handling this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I recommend reconsidering your workflow for more flexibility. Utilizing layer combinations or design options to toggle elements on and off could provide a more streamlined approach.
You can save one camera or 3d document in different views and easily adapt them by only changing the layercombinations.
Tuesday
Open the 3D from source view and then just save a view from the 3D window (if you don't already have one).
Now edit away, zoom, pan rotate and amend/add elements.
Then open the view that you saved and it will reset to the exact same 3D view you had saved.
If you have added element in layers that were turned off and you now need them, edit the layer combination used in the view settings to show those layers as well.
You should now have the same view with your amended elements.
Now right click on the 3D Document in the Project map and choose 'Redefine 3D Document based on current 3D window'.
That should be job done.
