You can make this with one wall and two roofs (or one wall and a
multiplane roof) Just connect the wall to the roof and connect the two
roofs (select one roof +roof tool and ctrl-command click on the top side
of the other roof to adjust the angle and length...)
Afterward, you can still modify the staircase. Adding some guide lines
at the width of the stairs helps. You cannot go narrower than the
staircase itself, which allows you to snap to the minimum width.
Manually >> it is just a basic mesh. Choose a grid en set all edges
sharp. With Gdl (and ai) you could make something with a little more
control like level of detail and resolution etc...
