3D Viewing

Hey guys, my colleagues and I have been trying for quite a while now to solve this problem and now we've decided to seek help. When we view our projects in 3D, a grid shows up that is on grade level, this wouldn't be an issue if the grid were transparent but because it is opaque it makes viewing the entire project a little more difficult and we would like to get rid of this nuisance. If we could change the grid settings to being transparent that would work as well as it is nice to have a guideline displaying grade while you are in the 3D view. But for now we cannot find any toolbars or settings pertaining to that grid is specific. Any advice? Thanks guys.

I think you are referring to the "Editing Plane"
To control it:
>View, >3d View Options > Editing Plane Display, toggle this off.

Also, you can go to Work Environment, "Onscreen options", and set this to display only during editing operations.

Thanks, annoying how simple the solution can be sometimes

Or while in the 3D window you can go to grids and backgrounds and use the sliders (under the color box pickers) to make the "editing plane" transparent. These sliders only work for the opacity of the grid in the 3D window.

Has anyone had an issue with the editing plane changing from transparent to opaque automatically? I have changed the transparency of the editing plane several times under View; Grid and Editing Plane Options; Grids and Backgrounds, but after working in 3d and then switching back to 2d, when I go back the 3d the background is opaque again. Is this a bug or am I missing a button somewhere?

Any thoughts are appreciated!
