Ok, here is how i do it. Everybody else will think i am crazy - but i can live with that.

I take clingfilm, the stuff you wrap your sandwiches in and wrap one layer over the monitor. Then i take a marker and draw the lines of perspective onto the monitor with a ruler.
Now you go into the 3D view and navigate your model until the perspective matches. Obviously you will also have to match the focal length of your camera (probably 55mm) with the AC camera.

This works a treat and is a quick and easy way of doing it. It always helps to know where you have taken the picture from and at what height.

Now, once you have rendered the model open both the sitephoto and the rendered model and stick the 2 together.
This tutorial will show you how:

Crazy ain't the word!!!

I've explained how the book says to do it in this thread, and no-one shot me down, so give it a go.

Which method did you use? Clingfilm? Or align view?

Are you asking me?
I use align view, although not so perfect but very close.

Yep, I was asking you. Align view always needs a little tweaking to get it just right, but is good for a starting point.

After trying the align view command which failed, I used the photo as a background image in the 3d view. I panned around until I achieved a close fit with some known wall elements/spandrels. It helps if you model existing buildings to adjust your fit.

I rendered the view WITHOUT the background which I then rescaled/ merged in Photoshop.
