There is a short interview with the VP of Graphisoft NA in Ralph Grabowski's upfrontezine newsletter today which gives some insight into the whole Archicad, Allplan, VW setup and a brief mention of AC11 new features...
an anyone explain what this statement from the article means..

"Earlier ArchiCADs used hotlinks to propagate changes within floors; Release 11 now makes the changes vertically, between floors."
Go to:

And look at number 6

I think Hotlink is familiar with Allplan as far as I know ( I am not sure).
Allplan is great CAAD (AC is much better for Architects.).
In my opinion Allplan is more stabil than AC.
To have Allplan-user hier in Forum must be great. The wish-list can be better by Allplan-user.
AC12 can be great. AC11 is anyway too early.

Hotlinked modules have been part of Archicad since at least v6.

From this article: http://www.upfrontezine.com/current.htm
"In North America, Nemetschek plans to keep selling VectorWorks as the 3D surface modeler and ArchiCAD as the 3D parametric modeler. Allplan stays out of the market here, after failing to make a foothold back in 1999."
Since the majority of people on this forum are from North America, you may be out of luck.

I don't know about that. There are a lot of Aussies and Brits, and quite a few Germans considering the language is English. Perhaps it is that the (we) Americans are just the loudest (typical yanks).

Not sure if I quite follow what AU77 was on about but there are some US Allplan users left 'marooned' from when Nemetschek dipped it's toe in the water there with Allplan in, I think, 1999. Showing remarkable perseverance, some of them are still using the software.

There was a reseller as well until a few years ago but in the face of Nemetschek's - until now unspoken - decision to keep Allplan out of the US, they presumably struggled and have gone quiet.

There is an interesting insight into the thinking of the Nemetschek holding company in this commentary by Evan Yares on the spin off of Virtual Construction from Graphisoft...

I know, many good offices insist on using Allplan because they have used this CAD succesfully.
AC must investigate to take advantages from Allplan (officially!!).
It must help AC-user.

It means exactly nothing. I emailed Ralph Grabowski for the explanation, no response since ...

Either a misquote or the gentleman who was interviewed did not do his homework.

Yes, interesting - the nemetschek.de webmaster queried the VP's statements also...

Allplan still has a distributor listed for the USA, although I have not heard from them for several years.

Apparently, Mr. Grabowski did check the contents with Graphisoft, and they confirmed it.

That's great ...
