AC20 Minor annoyances

Overall, I like AC20 a lot! However, there are a couple of minor issues that make it very difficult to work.

1) We seem to have lost the 3D line/flat color library previews, and so now all 3D previews are rendered. This makes it very hard to see any detail in a 3D view if the object is white on the white background. Is there any way to get the old-style preview back?

2) I've noticed that sometimes 3D elements like morphs do not show up right away in the 2D view if they were drawn in 3D. Sometimes it takes drawing a similar element in plan, and then all the elements show up. This is probably a bug, but is there any way to overcome this in the meantime?

Yes, but no where near as slow as yours. With 10 favorites ours takes about 3 seconds to 'build' the list the first time the tool is used each day (why isn't this persistent and not need to rebuild each time the file is opened?). Subsequent openings are instant.

We are using SSD's on Core i7 with 16gb RAM. I'm guessing you have a spinning, maybe 5400rpm, drive which takes a while to spool up. Seriously, an SSD upgrade will make your system feel like a new computer.
My Mac has an SSD so I don't think it is that. I also find that it is just as slow when I click on the Favourites pop out pallette a second time. A graphics problem perhaps?

Another niggle and this dates back to AC19 is the Tags and Categories in the Layout Settings. If you add custom Tags to your Layouts the "field" does not expand to show all of them despite stretching the dialogue box bottom edge down, you have to scroll down to see the custom tags.

I would add to this list also that we lose the ability to minimize the palettes.
Or can we do it yet and I don't know how? This was part of my work environment is very handy when you don't have a big monitor.

OK, I will forward this whole thread to GRAPHISOFT so they know about all these issues.

Hi Dear Post Owners! Let me list some issues mentioned here one by one.

1. The Edit Selection Set Button
Our Design Team decided to remove the Edit Selection Set button from the Info Box as it was an odd one out regarding the logic of the info box's structure – all the other available options here refer to the selected element type, only this one was selecting a mix of different element types. Moreover, this button was on the part “Layer” in the Info Box so it decreased the place of the Layer popups.

However, the function is still easily reachable using the default shortcut (Ctrl+Shft+T) or activating the Edit Element toolbar, which contains this button by default. It can also be reached using the context menu.

2. Align 3d Texture option and the Profile Manager in the menus
These are available from a different menu structure in AC 20 than in AC 19 in the US version – We have added a new wish about this (#10866).
3. SEO - Wish for an easier way to reach this, not only from the context menu
We have added a new wish about this (#10867).
4. Wish for an expanded view of the dialog box if custom fields are added to the Tags and Categories in the Layout Settings
We have added a new wish about this (#10873).

Another minor annoyance (there since AC19) is the toolbars being reset to the top right every time AC is opened. This is annoying if you use Toolbox Tools instead of palettes and have to relocate it every time you open AC.
