Annoying bug

Lets say for example I "suck up" the attributes of a line using the "eyedropperish" tool (don't know exactly what it's called, I hold "option" on my mac keyboard).

That line has a certain lineweight, layer, etc. that I want all copied. The problem is all the info gets sucked up but the layer. It always switches it to a layer I never really use. If I suck it up twice in a row then it picks up the layer, but rarely on the first try. Very annoying. Is this a bug? Happen to anyone else?

This happens to me while using the line, circle/arc, spline, etc. tool. Never a wall or 3D object.

BTW, the censored word is s-u-c-k. Can't even say su-ck?

No can't say it is. Works every time, whether the dropper turns full black or just the little line inside.

I was thinking there may be a variable, sorta like under favorites, where you can choose what parameters are saved. But you say its on again off again.

When weirdness happens to me, I choose to save all files. Shut down totally. Look at the trees and sky, return to my tormentor, and resubmit myself to the whims of transient ghosts in the machine.

All the best,

I just curse at it under my breath and usually the computer gets scared and submits.

Sorry for reviving a slightly old thread, but I have exactly the same problem (AC12). I've had it on 2 different pc's so I don't think it's computer related.

It has always annoyed me no end. Set the line settings with the eyedropper and as soon as you let go of the alt key, the settings revert back to a random rarely used layer. The second time, everything works fine.

Also as a possible extension to this (or perhaps a totally different matter), when I set the properties of a polyline from a favourite and then switch to a line, arc etc. it reverts to the previous settings, even though the uniform settings box is checked. I can repeatedly switch between the tools and it switches between the two sets of settings, one set for the polyline and one for all the other line tools. If I set the polyline settings manually the settings are applied to all line tools properly.

Anyone have any ideas on either of these problems?

Thanks,

Matt

I suspect that these 'problems' are one in the same. In fact I'm sure I've seen these presented as a feature in the past. Have you tried unchecking the uniform line settings and saving/redefining your favorites?

Cheers,

Thanks for the response, I just tried that and it didn't change anything. It seems that whenever you set line settings from a favourite, it ignores the uniform line option. However, if you set the settings from the favourite, then uncheck and recheck the uniform option the settings will be transferred to all line tools properly.

Seems more like a bug than a feature to me?

It had no effect on the other layer switching problem. That problem seems more random, and often only does it the first time you try to set a line property in that session.
