Anyone using Hotspots?

Hi all

Just trying to get an idea of what people are using the hotspot tool for, if anything? Seems like a bit of a legacy tool, but I just wonder if I'm missing something good?

Any reference point that you need that does not exist on an element

I find that using the hotspot tool with the Profile Manager helps alot.

I added a picture to try and explain what i mean. Hope it helps.
You can also use this to make extra hotspot on gdl objects that you have created.

Yes, thank you all, especially Cecilia with the beautiful image. (Easy there 77 - down boy! )

So on my list I have:

1. Create nodes where no node currently exists;
2. Create nodes in a complex profile;
3. Create insertion points when saving a 2D library part;

Can anyone think of anything else the hotspot tool is useful for?

Thanks again.

well not so advanced method , but i use it if i want to count things , for example parking lots ( not done by archicad objects - so find and select is not helpful , or any thing similar to that ) i use hot spots i just spread it , then i select all and check the number , and the good thing is even if i forgot it .. it will not be printed .

I use them as mentioned and also when I want to line up 2 or more layouts on top of each other.
Its not so critical now in version 10 and 11 where the layout drawings have active points just like in the model.
In previous versions only the hotspot in the model would be an active point in layouts.
Even now in 10 & 11 it is easier to just throw a hotspot on the plan in the Archicad layer, then any layer combination saved as a view can be used as a drawing in the layouts and easily lined up with any other plan drawing.
Could be used on elevations as well if need be.
