Arc segment spacing.

I have overhead garage doors drawn with an arched top. The arch portion of the opening I've created shows up in rather large segments. How do I change the segment spacing to tighten this up and create a smoother arched?

Duane,
Is this a door in the standard ArchiCAD Library? It's not clear whether the arch portion is part of the door object or a sperate object. In any case check to see if there is a "curve resolution" parameter in the object(s)dialogue. If you see one its probably set to 32...try increasing this number to around 96 or more.

if you don't see a curve resolution prompt, you may need to add a "RESOL" statement in the gdl script.

The opening created is a simple arched opening in the special doors folder. I created a separate wall behind this opening in order to insert a rectangle overhead door since I have no arched o.h. doors to select from. By creating the arched opening in the wall in front of the o.h., I am able to get the look of an arched o.h. door and it creates a nice recess/shadow line. I'm very new to ArciCAD since I've been on AutoCad for the last ten years and there's probably a very simply fix to this, I just haven't worked w/ it yet. The only adjustments though w/ a simple arched opening is the basic hgt./width/and arch hgt. Is there a different door or opening to select? Also, there must be a way to modify the segments in any arch created w/o changing the GDL script. Possibly in 3D display there's a setting?

Duane,
In Version 9, all the "arched" openings in the 08 Doors-Windows9/Openings9 directory have a curve resolution parameter defaulted to 32. Change this value to a higher number as I previously suggested and it will solve your problem.

If your working with an earlier version of ArchiCAD, this curve resolution parameter should be there as well - No GDL should be necessary

P.S. you should put your system information in your signature line so people have better upfront info to make suggestions.
