ArchiCAD 11 will come soon (as much as I suspect..)
What can AC 11 do better than AC10?

software interface has become so complex it seems a burden"

Leo Kottke has this performance where he says "I'm going to take a lovely melody and drive it right into the ground." And he proceeds to do so, but with skill, unlike how Graphisoft incorporates new interface features.

ps. I can't seem to get this website quote format working with Safari, which would be nice...

Call me and I'll walk you through it - Using Safari since the beginning.

This wasn't in my upgrade 'list' but meant merely to illustrate that not only did I expect an improvement but to pay for both the change, the downtime of learning the change, the resulting inefficiency of additional keystrokes & then to still feel no benefit from the change after a reasonable period of use hasn't seemed worthwhile...

Spending yet another non-billable weekend tweeking my cad system backwards isn't someting I look forward to, have the time for nor paid for...
Bruce, show me a software that after upgrade, do not require:
-learning new features time
-adjusting the interface (but lets not forget that some software remain startup UI and hide all the features in the menu tree - I personally don't like that kind of approach)
-adjusting your CAD standards
-all plugins from the previous version work perfectly
-only "my list" was taken under consideration.

This significant part of the v10 upgrade seems more of a sidegrade or possibly downgrade to me, and so part of the 'trust' in judgement & leap of faith for future upgrades may need to be renewed...

My guess is v11 may be partly a vista escape valve & evidence of an annual upgrade cycle for shareholders & less dependent of user benefit/value/timing...

Personally v10 is finally AC version with some sort of idea behind menus organization - not finished and polished - but few steps forward.

Please let me wade in on this discussion by saying that Adobe Photoshop is a software where:
-- time spent learning new features is rewarding because they are always powerful new features that work to dramatically expand the capacity of the software.
-- respect the old ways of work while bringing new ones to bear, integrating tools to prevent the impression of complexity.
-- all plug-ins work. I have just shifted my studio from the BETA Photoshop CS3 to the real version and simply copied all the third-party plug-ins I extorted over the years to a flawless result.
-- and i saw the results of my alpha and beta testing suggestions included in the program.
Sure, Adobe is gigantic compared to Graphisoft, but their conduct is unreproachable with an application that is vast, powerful and integrated with others.

Where are all the happy upgraders?
Here I am

Mind you, our office did upgrade from V8.1.
As well as all the good stuff that V10 introduced, I'm loving the Trace tool - very useful in helping people who insist on 2D start to work 3D (being able to see plans and elevations together). And Worksheets are turning out to be handy for DWG organisation.

Yes of course we can change it back to what it was, or perhaps even hunt around & find a template somewhere, or maybe become an interface designer as well as a building designer & find an entirely proprietary better moustrap setup that nobody I might hire would know...
Or, you could just import your Work Environment and shortcuts from AC10 and have them available immediately. Sheesh.

I just found this library update for version 11 from the help menu US Tech Support.
ArchiCAD 11 Library Update for PPC Mac / Intel-based Mac / Win {47.4MB}

Anyone know what it uodates/corrects?

Thanks,

Richard, this has already been pointed out to him many times before to no success. Some people just love to beat the hell out of dead horses.

Dwight, with all the respect I have, I must say that Phooshop situation here is way better than any BIM package, and during the long live of photoshop there was a lot of changes that people have been complaining about in the beginning (some people still complain about some features, shotcut changes etc.). All plug-ins works? Not really. Those with simple image based operations - yes, but more complex (working in a different color space, 3D operations, light operations (gennesis)) not always. And you have not seen one suggestion brought to live in AC?

Don't get me wrong I have a few thing to complain about, and a lot I would like to add to AC but not have to learn new things is not one of them. This is something you always have to do.

hi, i have just installed AC11 on my MacIntell with 10.4.9 and i notice that i cannot write with the greek keybord on the project info, zones, details etc... to make it short the only place i can use greek is the text block! This is realy annoying! Will there ever be a unicode version of AC for the mac???

I hope you are not running Micro$osft office on your mac. If yes then thats the problem. MS office replace the fonts of the system with its own witch doesn't work correctly. so you have to remove the ms fonts from your system and the run the GRupdate patch.
