ArchiCAD 11

ArchiCAD 11 will come soon (as much as I suspect..)
What can AC 11 do better than AC10?

I really don't understand why you are so mad about AC8. Personally I thing 2 features from v8 brought much more productivity than a lot of features from many previous and future releases:
-zoom and pan with scroll - AWESOME - panning and zooming in previous versions through shortcuts - horrible.
-OpenGL in 3D window. Finally we have been able to show something to our customers in real time and actually work in 3D window.

AC 9 was so so, I never actually used it in practice. There was nothing interesting in it.

AC10 again grate release. Blowing out Plotmaker? Huge speed-up in drawing creation.

AC11 - personally I see it more like 10.5. But what can you expect in 1 year?

It was mostly the Mac guys who had the gripe. We had flat faces from all the crashing. That was something considering the size of my nose.

So, it seems that at least the sales will be solid, which will then provide the cash for the development of what counts - the Virtual Building solution and the training how to do it.
Hmm... hmm..., an ideal world, doesn't seem that way for me. I would like to know why is archicad 11 such a big disappointment. Everyone expected fast development after v.10, at least the basics like stairs, library, freeform modeling... but the biggest improvement of all is a better ghost story.

AC9 was the redemption for AC8. 8 was just too much for them too fit into one release in that timeframe. All of the quality control staff must have been fired the year before. 9 was the release that said "we really can write software (albeit with very few features) without horrific, crippling bugs". They needed to regain the trust of the users. It was make or break.

on another note... was there ever any confirmation that AC11 is actually coming with the HVAC add-on? I know there were some rumors to that effect.
...only that I heard it straight from the horses' mouths (PM and DG) in San Antonio that it would be available free for AC11 users mid-summer.

I won't go into what it cost me. The problem with 8 was that it was unreliable. The Mac side was worse, but I found that neither Mac nor PC versions could be counted upon to produce reliable output. I managed to make it work on my own projects, but recommended that most of my clients wait for 8.1.

In truth AC8 had enough new features for two major upgrades. If they had only done half of them (properly) in 8 and saved the rest for 9 we would have had two major and successful upgrades instead of one overreaching and the other patching it up.

AC 8 perhaps had bugs but i think featurewise was the best release.
If you tell me choose an ac11 like release or an ac8 release i would say and ac8 one.

Ac11 is a stalemate

Am I guessing the initials right?

And is it free for US or free for all? This is not US, but boy, do we have A/C ...

Good question. They were speaking to a US audience. Hopefully, it will be free for all.
