A great tip from Jeffry is to make use of the system restore of XP. This enables you to go back to a restore point rather than uninstalling and installing and then redoing all my custom settings and dragging stuff from the goodies folder etc.

It really works.

He also suggested routinely setting one before installing something, then if it doesn't work you can go right back to where you were!

Thanks again Jeffry

1. It seems that with the update the keyboard shortcuts are no longer saved in the Lasting.Prefs. Nor are they anywhere else, since I brought over all the prefs from my V1 folder. Very mysterious. Any idea where they are, before I start over?

2. On first launch of v2, attempting to sync the cache library, I was told that the 'remote object was modified on the server, stop/continue' about every single object in the library. I obviously didn't wait to see every one, I quickly got the idea and did a force quit. (It mattered not whether I clicked stop or continue. It was ready to give me a dialog for every object in the library. Really elegant behavior. ) I trashed the cache lib and let it sync from scratch, which went fine.

Is anyone having problems with the re-re-release? Or is everyone simply terrified?

One more thing: The 'No other applications can be running'. Please, please, please stop it.

You probalby did, but as I didn't get these errors, did you load the library update as well as the program update?

Funny you should ask...

I hadn't installed it at that point. But this happened with my own libraries, not AC's. Isn't the library updater just the AC library itself? I hope it didn't do anything that would affect the libraries with respect to 1410. Guess I'll find out.

Layout books sure open fast.

terrified. how's your library manager?

love the speed though: archiCAD and plotmaker. be sure to turn off openGL for 2D if you have been using it: archiCAD's internal engine is way faster now!!!

james i am in day 3 of my problem, trying to get background ac to open to update/import pm3r2. i guess i am beyond terrified!
jeffry c & david t @ gsus are working on my problem and have sent off files to gs r&d.
so are there any other pc users who have upgraded to 2254 & cannot get bg ac to run for import/update of files?

is the problem BGarchiCAD simply not running, or running but not loading library parts?

we have had the latter (for the last 2 days). only things we could do were completely delete ALL AC application files, caches, support and preferences, re-install . . . and also re-sharing our teamwork projects helped.

all came back in the end though. . . but the library manager is giving us real problems - it crashes at every use!

James,
Jeffry of US tech support had me try out reloading r2 but just the program part. I still got the same set of error messages and bizarre results. This means the problem is with the program updater. I was advised not to open any other AC files and go back r1 until I we heard back from Budapest.
At the time, US tech support had not had many comlaints from the PC side. From this thread it sounds like this is changing as more are trying out r2 &/or putting it through its paces.

You might want to run a bug report (double-click on the cockrach-like icon in the AC folder) and sent it in with your file.
By the way, how come the mac people get a cute little lady bug for their icon?

'cos we see it more often - has to be easier on the eye.

it stopped being cute for me (was it ever?) about a year ago!

ben,
bg ac itself fails to open when i try to import/update w/2245 build. i get error shown below. btw, opening ac manually does not shed any light on the error.
i have done the total uninstall/gs cleaner/reinstall/update. 3 times now, getting ready for #4 having also removed wibu drivers.
maybe there is a library problem that is also causing my problems.
thanks for your reply!
