Archicad 25 Railing Keeps Freezing

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Archicad 25 AUS, and every time I try to edit the railing by clicking it, the whole software freezes. It is ok to draw railings using the railing tool, however once it is placed, it cannot be edited or deleted because Archicad will freeze.

Anyone else encountered this problem?

Any help is appreciated thanks!

Windows 10 or 11?

Laptop or desktop?

What video card do you have?

Just wondering if your system has a built-in video card (not recommended) or a dedicated one.

I don't think this will make any difference but you could try reducing this setting in the Work Environment.

If it was crashing you would have a bug report number that you could send of and follow up with local support.

But because it is just a freeze, it is not so simple to find the problem.

Still local support might be worth a try.

I can't say I have ever seen this.

Did you install the latest update of 25 - build 5010?

What are your machine specs (video card, RAM) and operating system?

Hi Barry,

Thanks for replying, and yes I did install the latest update. My specs are Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz, 16.0 GB RAM

Hi Andrii,

Thank you for replying. It isn't really like that situation. But rather, whenever I select the railing, everything stops responding, I can't do anything further with Archicad. This issue is less severe with a brand new project, as I tested drawing a railing in a new project with nothing, and it takes sometime but eventually loads. However, once I add in some more elements, clicking the railing freezes everything.Screenshot (131).pngScreenshot (129).png

Hi Barry,

Thanks, I think it has helped a little. I will try local support too thanks for the advice. I am using a laptop Windows 11, with Intel(R) UHD Graphics, 8-bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Not sure if this is the reason to the problem.

OK so you have a built in card and a dedicated one which is a good thing.

I am not 100% sure of this, but basically you have to tell you laptop not to use the built in card but use the NVIDIA one.

Right click on your desktop and choose 'NVIDIA Control Settings'.

Then look at the following settings.

You have a much better card than I do!

I think you can also go into the 'Program"' tab and set up rules specifically for Archicad.

Or another thing to try is to make sure the drivers for your built-in card are up to date.

I remember reading in a post somewhere that can help.

I understand this is an old thread, but I have just had the same issue in AC26 solo.

I created a U-shaped  1.1m high railing using the 'cast iron post 26' for the railing balusters, innerposts and node posts. Each had 2no spindles, with top and bottom ends. Balusters spacing at 100mm. I was able to draw the railing fine, but as soon as I tried to select it (in 2D or 3D views) Archicad freezes. I have to ctrl-alt-del and end task.

Fortunatley I was able to open the auto backup. However, the railing is still there, and as before cannot be deleted if you try to select it with the arrow tool. The only way to delete was to isolate the layer and use a marque around the railing then press delete.

I was then able to create a similar railing with the 'Railing Post 26' and that works fine. See screenshot below.

I did try the solution detailed by Barry in this thread but it made no difference.

My files size is 61mb.
