Are roofs always a pain?

Hi

I'm modelling a simple 4 metre by 5 metre cabin. I want to put a straight forward gable roof on it. I can't say that AC seems at all intuitive as I can't get the damned thing right...

Any help appreciated. Any decent tutorials around?

Cheers

Well stated!
AC27 v. 4060 w/ MEP, Cadimage, Twinmotion 2023.2.2 using AC from AC6.0, 2021 MacPro M1 chip, Adobe CC. Used AC on both platforms.

Thank you, Scott, for that excellent graphic depiction of ArchiCAD's TEAMWORK function, added since 1992.

Dwight,
You're so welcome. I just wanted to enter Active Member status with a memorable BANG!

got the tutorial. none of the mp4 files want to play for some reason and I've spent ages trying to get them working...

from what I heard AC was supposed to be much more user friendly than ADT. Can't see it yet, but I will persevere.

I'm not lazy. If anyone wanted to know something I knew on this forum I'd be happy to help and I was hoping to find like minded individuals.

I'll keep trying for the next few days and then post again if I don't get anywhere.

I'm just surprised as I had the impression that AC was so user friendly.

Apologies.

I hope that you understand that I was teasing you. The giveaway was the Dr. Cox set-up.

Superfically, ArchiCAD is user friendly. Except that you need more knowledge now, than before, to be productive.

I have had similar problems testing the tutorials. Is there no PDF anymore?

yes D there is a PDF but it has links to mp4 videos all the way through. annoying if you can't get the vids to play.

my point is it'd be nice to find a simple AC tutorial to learn the real basics of the program before delving into the serious stuff.

I'll get there in the end but I find it surprising that there's nothing out there (and I've looked plenty) to guide the complete newbie to the program. I'm up to speed on AutoCad basics because there's basic tutorials out there for that product. Be nice to find the same for AC.

thanks for all your feedback.

ArchiCAD has CEASED to be an "intuitive" program. By employing more-and-more functionality, the commands become increasingly cryptic, and any productivity strategy more abstract. No more singing "yummy yummy yummy, I got love in my tummy."

Hello world.

Graphisoft, can ya hear it?
It's a call out for the written word.
A complete paper manual should be offered, even if it was an
extra cost, I promise I'll buy it, and so will many others.
It is each persons own personal reference guide, with customized
notations.

I've been using PC's for twenty yrs and the printed books are how
we all got here.

Don't just throw us into the void.
Remember college??
Remember highlighting the printed page, then pen underlining,
then the all important doodle?? It brings it to the real world like our
work of actually building, nobody lives in a virtual building.
Get "grounded". Never abandon tera firma.

Please, Please Graphisoft, offer us the softness of a reasonably priced
complete paper manual(s)

There was a time, back in 1992, when an architect could sit down with ArchiCAD and draw a building, just like that. It was a lovely melody - a love song. Graphisoft had turned architecture into a video game. The tools WERE intuitive and basic.
