Arrow Tool

My Arrow Tool selection rectangle only shows a faint dash line with complete transparent rectangle , in stead of a shaded rectangle. Makes it hard to see the border.
Is there any setting for this tool?

My first guess would be that this is a graphics card driver issue. Try to update to the latest drivers and see if that helps.

Since you're on a new Mac Pro, I assume all of your software is up-to-date via Apple software update. (There are no separate user downloadable graphics drivers.)

It could be related to your monitor's contrast settings - unless you you see the gray-shaded rectangle in AC 17, 16, etc? You may need to calibrate your monitor to the Mac Pro's graphics cards... System Preferences > Displays > Color tab and Calibrate... so that light grays are not washed out?

It's possible that it is something related to the new graphics cards in the new Mac Pro. Which card(s) are in yours? Then maybe someone else with that model can test.

Yes I have the newest black Mac Pro, I guess the graphic card drive is current
(2 x AMD FirePro D700)

I tried calibrating the display without success. The grey rectangle shows
in all my 3d views even before I did the calibrating.

Thanks.

So, it is only your 2D views where you do not see the grey fill for the selection rectangle?

If so... try going to your Work Environment and dragging the 2D Acceleration slider all the way to the left to 'off' and see if that resolves it.

This happens for all drawings (plans, sections elevations details etc.) except 3D.
Sorry to report that after doing the 2d Acceleration Slider, it still gives me the transparent rectangle.
I am using 3 monitors, one of them is an iMac. And all of them display the same way.
Guess this will remain one of the mysteries!

Sorry to hear that nothing cleared up the issue with 2D views.

Better to let GS tech know than to leave it a mystery. It could well be related to something unusual with the card (or that they are dual cards) in the Mac Pro and they could work to get it fixed. Consider filing a tech support report.

Just like to report that the arrow tool grey rectangle has returned this morning.
This is really strange as I didn't do anything to it.
