CPU usage with v16

I have just been OKed to use v16 for production (been stuck on v14).

The issue I have is when I used v14, if the software wasn't active, it would idle around 0-1% CPU usage. v16 on the other hand is constantly running the processor at 20-40% usage, even when it's idle or without a project open. The saving grace is other instances of v16 seem to idle around 0-1% but one instance is always churning away.

This doesn't seem to be a problem with AC as v16 seems snappy. But when I use other software that requires processing power like photo processing my computer is really lagging. This wasn't a problem with v14, but it's really an issue with v16 as I'm having to shut down all instances of v16 in order to kill the lagging and that's obviously not optimum.

Is this normal? And if so is there a way to get v16 to idle around 0-1% when the software is in the background?

I'm still having this issue and I was hoping if maybe someone might open their processes tab and tell me is it's normal that v16 has background activity? Or maybe if a Graphisoft engineer happens to read this might give some insight?

Archicad hasn't been the most stable software for me on this computer so I can accept it might be me but if there is a way I can stop or at least understand this behavior it would be better than where I'm at now. But I'm hoping that this is intentional since v16 is snappy.

As it is I only keep one instance active and eventually one instance that's empty. Those being the job I'm working on at the time, because it's too painful to shut down 3-5 instances of AC 2-3 times a day, and an empty instance to load jobs as I need it.

I love how snappy v16 is compared to v14, so I don't desire going back, but at the same time it was nice having that many jobs open in v14 and if I needed to (which happens many times a day) I could just click to that instance and not have to wait 2-5 mins each time to load a job just to answer a question or make a 10 second change.

For example right now I have one instance of v16 with a project open, idling in the background but it's sitting around 22-35% CPU usage as compared to the one instance of v14 that I have open that's sitting at 0% CPU usage as you can see in the attachment.

So first things first, is this normal?

I am not getting much CPU usage unless I am actually using Archicad.
I have a 14, 15, 2x16 & 17 all open at the same time all with jobs open.
All read "00" CPU usage except the 16's that fluctuate between 00 to 03% when idle.
I also have Outlook and Internet Explores opens as well.
I regularly have 3 or more Archicad running and have no trouble.
Maybe it is machine specs or old drivers?

When I open a few more programs (Word, Excel, Blender) then the CPU usage starts fluctuating to 08% and also version 15 starts to fluctuate as well.
The more programs I open the more the CPU usage of Archicad 16 fluctuates.

What happens when you shut down all other programs and just have 2 Archicads open?

Oddly as I shut down all the other programs the CPU usage for Archicad continues to increase.
Now fluctuating from 0 to 16% and will not settle back.

I made a coffee and came back and they have all settled back to 00.
All other programs still closed.

On my PC are runing curently: AC14, AC16, Firefox, Thunderbird, Total Commander, Skype, Octoshape Client, Adobe Flash Player Plugin, Messenger Plus for Skype.

When idle, AC14 and AC16 showed 0-5% usage. Firefox is the CPE eater wit 46-57% all time!

I'm guessing it's me then. Left the computer idling since I posted this and the attachement shows the result. v16 still churning away but now both projects, v16 and v14, seemed to have dropped a lot memory usage wise.

I'll try to reinstall and see if that helps.

Thanks for looking and the replies.
